Clarke Schmidt looked awesome today, striking out seven over six scoreless innings and was dominant.

  • After going down 1–2–3 in the first, Bellinger lead the second inning off with a triple to center. Belli would score on an RBI groundout by Volpe, making it 1–0 NYY.

  • Austin Wells would come up with two on and two out, again and hit an RBI double, scoring Volpe from second, making it 2–0 NYY.

  • Paul Goldschmidt would hit a two-run double, making it 4–0 NYY and before I could type this blurb, Rice singled home Goldschmidt making it 5–0 NYY.

  • The Yankees would get traffic on the bases over the next few innings, including the bases loaded with one out in the fifth, and come up empty, though the play in the fifth was a terrific play to double up DJ and save extra bases. 5–0 NYY.

  • Aaron Judge lead the seventh inning off by sending a ball into the fountain. It was Judge’s fourth home run in his last three game, and it was a no-doubter, making it 6–0 NYY.

  • Grisham made two really nice plays in this game, both of them had to go to replay to get right. Both were the same, robbing base hits in center field. Give him a Gold Glove!

  • Mark Leiter Jr. came out to begin the bottom of the ninth with a six-run lead. He began the inning by getting a pop-up that was dropped on the infield, then Salvador Perez followed up with a two-run homer. He would then allow an infield single and then Leiter threw a ball away, allowing another run to score, knocking him out of the game.

  • Devin Williams got out of the jam with a clean two outs.
