Takeaways

The Offense

The Yankees offense was able to muster 2 hits through the first seven innings and were just going through the motions.

Then, Grisham starts the eighth inning by tying the game with a homer, then the hit parade began with Rice having a single, then pinch-runner peraza and Cody Bellinger prfectly exicute a hit and run to put runners on the corners and no outs. Stanton would line a single over the drawn-in infield to take the lead.

After Devin Williams blows the save, Anthony Volpe ties the game up with a solo shot

Wells followed up by a single, and then this weird play on Grisham sacrifice bunt. Wells had to think there were three outs, but there is no excuse for this.

Bellinger then tied the game on an RBI triple in the gap to send the game to the 11th inning.

Then, after Jazz gets Kelly to balk, McMahon earns his pinstripes by hitting a walk-off RBI single wo win the game for the Yankees.

Volpe now leads all of the MLB with errors, at 16 on the year after this blunder in the eighth inning:

Starting Pitching Analysis

Will Warren looked the best he has looked in a while, though he did not strike out a lot of batters. Warren relied more on balls in play and it seemed to work for him.

Bullpen Usage

Headrick and De Los Santos both pitch scoreless frames. Them Williams blows the save. He walks the leadoff batter and gives up a two-run homer to Josh Lowe. Just completely took the air out of Yankee Stadium and truly blew the game for the Yankees. When Volpe tied it in the ninth, Weaver came in for the 10th inning and only allowed a sac fly, scoring the Manfred Man, giving the Yankees a chance to win the game. Then, after the Yankees tied the game, Hill came on and pitched a perfect 11th inning.
