THE BRONX, NY — The Yankees will face the Red Sox in a decisive game three in the American League Wild Card Series, and despite the lefty on the mound, a lot of the regulars are in the lineup for New York.

Tonight will be a battle of the rookies, with Cam Schlittler starting for the Yankees and Connolly Early starting for the Red Sox. Schlittler is the veteran in this one, having fourteen starts, posting a 2.96 ERA and for eleven of those fourteen starts, he has gone five or more innings. On the other hand, Connolly Early has just for big-league starts (ATH x2, TB, DET), posting a 2.39 ERA in those outings. This will be the first time either pitcher faced their opponent. This will also the first time Early has made a start in an actual MLB stadium on the road.

Schlittler will likely be amped up for this outing, pitching against his hometown team that he grew up rooting for as a kid. "I take pride in being from Boston.” Schlittler said Wednesday. “When it came to my career, this is where I want to be. They're full Yankee guys now. When they're here, they're really prideful about it"

Alex Cora also emptied out his bullpen last night, so expect that if Early has an Early exit, for lefty Kyle Harrison or Peyton Tolle to have an impact on the side of the Boston pitching staff, since they can five the teams multiple innings in a path to Chapman, who got hot last night, but did not make an appearance.

The Yankees will have an all-hands-on-deck game when it comes to their bullpen, but the Yankees could use a somewhat lengthy outing out of Schlittler since their long man in the bullpen is Will Warren, who has struggled in his outings against the Red Sox this season, posting a 9.08 ERA in fifteen innings. Expect for Comilo Doval to be in play in a high leverage spot tonight, and though both have pitched two days in a row, Devin Williams and David Bednar should both be available to pitch, but with short leashes if things begin to go awry.

Below are tonight’s lineups for the Yankees and the Red Sox.
