THE BRONX, NY — Instant Reaction to the Yankees 4-3 win over the Red Sox to even the series in the Bronx.

  • Carlos Rodon worked a 1-2-3 bottom of the first inning on fifteen pitches and two strikeouts.

  • After getting two quick outs, Cody Bellinger would line one the other way for a single, setting up Ben Rice, who grew up in Cohasset, MA as a Yankee fan, parked a two-run home run, giving the Yankees a 2-0 lead.

  • Carlos Rodon would then work a 1-2-3 lockdown inning.

  • The Yankees would not score in the second alfter Wells’ one-out walk was erased by a 5-4-3 double play on the first pitch off the bat of Volpe.

  • A single by Duran, a walk by Rafaela (two in two games, and he never walks), and a E1 load the bases with no outs. After a strikeout of Refsnyder, Trevor Story lined a two-run single to tie the game. The defense picked him up, turning a slick 6-4-3 double play on Bregman to end the inning.

  • The Yankees had two singles in the third inning, and Alex Cora had seen enough from Bello. Reliever Justin Wilson gets Bellinger to fly out to shallow left, not deep enough to score the runner from third, who got there on a double steal. Ben Rice then hit a line drive 109 MPH on the screws, but it hung up just enough for RF Nate Eaton to make a catch and leave the runners in scoring position.

  • Carlos Rodon would follow with a scoreless fourth inning around a two-out single by Sogard.

  • The Yankees would go down 1-2-3 in the fourth. The Yankees lineup has been really bad about walking this postseason. And, the Yankees are 0-5 against the Boston bullpen, and Alex Cora’s aggressive managing wins again.

  • Carlos Rodon worked a 1-2-3 fifth inning, with some nice outfield plays by Bellinger and Judge.

  • The Yankees would regain the lead the lead after a two-out stolen base by Grisham, followed by what the scorer called a hit off the bat of Judge, on a ball that went off the glove of Duran in RF.

  • The Red Sox would tie the game on a solo home run by Trevor Story off Carlos Rodon. After the home run, Rodon would give up a four-pitch walk to Bregman, before Boone came out to talk. Rodon got a popup and then an inning-ending double play.

  • The Yankees had two on with two outs, but after going up 3-0 in the count, Volpe would strike out in one of the worst at-bats you would ever see.

  • Carlos Rodon would come out for the seventh and face two batters and not throw a strike, setting up first and second, no outs for Boston. Boone would go to his bullpen, but too batters, too late.

  • Fernando Cruz came on in a tough spot and got two quick outs before getting a ball on the ground to Jazz, who made the stop on the ball, but could not get the out. Trevor Story was up with the bases loaded and gave the ball a ride to deep center, but it landed in Grisham’s glove for the out.

  • Trent Grisham would get a one-out double, but Aaron Judge, aka Mr. May would strike out looking on three pitches and Bellinger would hit a shallow fly ball to end the inning. The Yankees had their chances in this game, they just have not hit with RISP, going 2-13 as of the seventh inning this series. Credit the Boston pitching.

  • Devin Williams worked a scoreless eighth inning, aided by a slick 1-6-3 double play of Nate Lowe.

  • The Yankees would get two quick outs against Garrett Whitlock before Chisholm worked a two-out walk, leading to an RBI single by Wells, in which Jazz would score from first base, showing off the wheels. The Yankees would then load the bases with two outs, before Grisham would ground out to end the inning and send this game to the ninth inning with a 1-run lead.

  • David Bednar came in and shut the door to send this series to game 3.
