THE BRONX, NY — Instant Reaction to the Yankees 4-0 win to send the Yankees to the ALDS.

  • Cam Schlittler worked a 1-2-3 first inning on fourteen pitches, getting a lineout, a popup, a dropped-popup and then a strikeout of Bregman to end the inning.

  • The Yankees also went down 1-2-3 against Early in the first inning, making him throw just eight pitches. 8 pitches.

  • Cam Schlittler allowed a leadoff single to Masataka Yoshida, but retired the next three, two on strikes.

  • Giancarlo Stanton hit a leadoff double in the second inning, that he thought was a solo home run. He would be left at second base as the side was retired in order, with two strikeouts and a pop out.

  • Cam Schlittler worked another 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts.

  • The Yankees don’t score in the third after both Volpe and Wells go up 0-2 in their counts and strike out, and after a two-out single by Grisham, Aaron Judge (a.k.a. Mr. May) grounds out to end the inning.

  • Cam Schlittler worked a scoreless fourth inning around a two-out single from Yankee killer Masataka Yoshida.

  • The Yankees hung a four spot on Connolly Early in the fourth inning after the Red Sox gift Bellinger a bloop double off the glove of Raffiella lead to a Stanton walk, and four straight hits after a Rice strikeout by Rosario, Chisholm, Volpe and Wells, scoring the four runs. A flyout by Grisham and after Judge gets hit on the hand, Bellinger pops out to end the inning.

  • While he did allow two singles in the fifth inning, Cam Schlittler worked a scoreless, shutdown inning, striking out three.

  • The Yankees went down 1-2-3 in the fifth inning, and jumped on everything.

  • Cam Schlittler worked a scoreless sixth inning with an outstanding play at second base by Volpe to get the out on a low and bad throw by Chisholm. Schlittler struck out two more batters in the inning, making it ten on the night.

  • Jazz has a leadoff single in the sixth inning, but the Yankees did not score after Wells reached on a fielder’s choice, E6 with two outs. Chisholm had two hits against Lefties tonight.

  • Aaron Boone left Cam Schlittler for the seventh inning and on his 100th pitch of the game, he struck out Abreu for his eleventh strikeout of the game, the most by a rookie in Yankee history, to retire the side in order.

  • The Yankees went down 1-2-3

  • Boone left Schlittler in for the eighth inning, and with a terrific play from McMahon to end the inning.

  • Paul Goldschmidt worked a leadoff single against Chapman in the eighth inning, but the next three, McMahon, Jazz, and Volpe all struck out.

  • David Bednar came out for his third appearance in a row and fourth in five days, and he shut the door to send the Yankees to the ALDS!
