TORONTO — With the Yankees bullpen hitting a scuffle and Fernando Cruz likely out till late August, early September, the Yankees made a roster move to help stable the middle of the bullpen.
The Yankees recalled Clayton Beeter from Triple-A Scranton on Wednesday. In 17.2 innings at AAA this season, Beeter is posting a 1.02 ERA with two saves. Better has also recorded 29 strikeouts, which is needed in this Yankees bullpen, but has also walked 14 batters, which is not ideal. Better was up with the Yankees in 2024, and pitched 3.2 innings to a 4.91 ERA (two earned runs), around some injuries. Beeter also struck out five in the 3.2 innings, so his strikeout stuff has played in a small sample size.
The Yankees designated Geoff Hartlieb for assignment as the corrisponding move. Hartleb made one appearance for the Yankees and gave up three runs in 1.2 innings of work.
