KANSAS CITY — The Yankees embark on a six-game road trip to Kansas City today and to Boston on Friday, and manager Aaron Boone provided injury updates to the media.
Giancarlo Stanton’s Rehab:
Giancarlo Stanton has begun his rehab assignment with Double-A Somerset. He is scheduled to play today and tomorrow, after which he and the Yankees will reconvene on Thursday to determine the next steps. Stanton did not rule out the possibility of playing against Boston this weekend, stating, “I just gotta get some real at-bats in a game, and then let me figure it out”.
2. Marcus Stroman’s Rehab:
Marcus Stroman has not pitched in a Major League game since April 11 against the Giants, when he allowed five runs without recording an out before landing on the injured list with a leg injury. He has been throwing for several weeks and is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment tomorrow with Double-A Somerset. The Yankees have been building Stroman back up as a starter.
3. Jake Cousins Elbow Injury:
Jake Cousins has been shut down from his rehab assignment with an apparent elbow injury. Cousins will meet with Dr. Chris Ahmad to figure out next steps today. More information will be provided as it comes.
