THE BRONX, NY — Instant Reaction to the Yankees 9-6 comeback win over the Blue Jays.
The Blue Jays struck first on two-run home run off the bat of Yankee Killer Vladimir Guerrero Jr. after a missed Strike 3 call to Davis Schneider lead to a walk. The Yankees never should have pitched to Vladdy in that spot, but they did.
The Yankees answered right back after a single by Judge and Rice reaching on an E4 by IKF lead to an RBI single by IKF, cutting the Jays’ lead to 2-1.

Rodon would completely fall apart in the third inning, allowing four runs and having to come out of the game. Rodon was not great today, leaving a lot of pitches in the zone, including getting away with a number of hanging fastballs, specifically to George Springer.
The Yankees would get the comeback started in the bottom of the third inning, with a Judge RBI single and a Stanton Sac Fly, bringing the Yankees within three runs.
Fernando Cruz and Comilo Doval combined for a scoreless fourth inning.
Remember the infamous Game 5 started with a dropped popup? So did the Yankees comeback with Barger failing to catch a popup off the bat of Wells, and Wells took second. A walk to Grisham would set the table for Aaron Judge, who delivered with a clutch game-thing three-run home run to flip the script.
IT'S A TIE GAME!! ALL RISE, HERE COMES THE JUDGE!

Tim Hill was able to go another full inning, giving the Yankees four outs, including facing a few right-handers and more importantly, giving the Yankees a chance to face Vladdy without a runner on base.
The Blue Jays intentionally walked Aaron Judge in the bottom of the sixth. It backfired. Anthony Santander misplayed a line drive off the bat of Bellinger, putting runners on second and third with one out. Ben Rice would make them pay with a sac fly, making it 9-6 Yankees.
THE SAC FLY IS UNDERRATED!!

Devin Williams came on and pitched a 1-2-3 seventh inning.
The Yankees went down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, marking the first time that the Yankees went down in order this game.
Aaron Boone left Devin Williams in for the eighth inning, making it the first time that Williams pitched multiple innings this season, and after allowing a leadoff single, he would strike out Anthony Santander, Boone would go to his closer, David Bednar to get five outs.

Bednar came in and induced two groundouts to end the inning and get his offense back to the plate quickly.
The Yankees would load the bases in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs, but Stanton would pop out on the first pitch to leave the bases loaded.
David Bednar retired the side in order with an awesome play by Caballero to end the ballgame!
5 OUT SAVE FOR BEDNAR 🔥🔥
