THE BRONX, NY — The Yankees announced on Thursday their rotation against the Baltimore Orioles to close out the regular season, as the Yankees go for the AL East Division win.
On Friday, the Yankees will be pitching young Will Warren for his 30th start of the season. This year, Warren has an 8-8 record with a 4.35 ERA. The Orioles will be throwing Trevor Rogers, who in 17 starts has posted a 9-2 record with a sparkling 1.35 ERA. Rogers shut the Yankees down in Baltimore last week with six shutout innings.
On Saturday, the Yankees will be pitching rookie Cam Schlittler, who has taken the AL by storm, pitching to a 3-3 record with a 3.27 ERA across 13 games this season. Schlittler held the O’s to just one run—a solo homer. The Orioles will be sending Tomoyuki Sugano to the mound. Sugano has had a solid first season in MLB, posting a 10-9 record with a 4.54 ERA, but gave up four runs in three innings of work against the Yankees last week.
On the final day of the season, the Yankees will be sending Luis Gil to the mound. Gil has had a solid campaign since returning from the IL on August 3, posting a 4-1 record with a 3.29 ERA across 10 starts, but he has struggled with his command for most of the season. The Orioles are sending out Kyle Bradish, who in five starts since returning from Tommy John surgery has gone 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA. He took a no-decision last Sunday against the Yankees, giving up one run in six innings of work.
The Yankees sending Luis Gil out on Sunday would imply that rookie Cam Schlittler could get a potential Game Three start if the Yankees were to play in the three-game Wild Card series next week, as Schlittler would be pitching on normal rest.
