NEW YORK — Postgame reaction to the Yankees dominant win over the Twins in the first of their Three-game set. After today’s win, the Yankees improve to 63-56 on the season, 6.0 games back in the AL East.

  • Will Warren had a really dominant day today, striking out seven batters and allowing three hits total, two being solo home runs to Buxton and Larnach. Warren got ahead in majority of his counts, allowing him to pitch really efficiently. Warren had 85 pitches on the day and just 25 of them were for balls. Warren was really locked in and batters were 0-28 on Warren’s fastball today. Warren has been really good in his 13 starts at Yankee Stadium this season, posting a 6-3 record with a 2.86, allowing 2 runs or fewer in 10 of those starts, including today.

  • FWIW: his stuff looked sharp even before the game.

  • The Offense got started in the first inning with a solo home run off the bat of Cody Bellinger and never really went quiet.

  • The Yankees added on to their lead with back-to-back blasts from Stanton and Rice.

  • The Yankees got into the Twins bullpen and were able to add some big insurance runs in the seventh inning. McMahon started the inning with a double and during the Volpe at-bat — resulting in a walk — took third on a wild pitch. Trent Grisham came up and the Yankees put on the hit and run and Grisham lined a single to right, adding a big run and advancing Volpe to third. Judge had had a good swing in the first inning today, and had another good swing, grounding a single to left to add another run.

  • The Yankees had a chance for more, but left runners on first and second with no outs.

  • Jazz Chisholm Jr. would add a solo shot of his own on the first pitch of the eighth inning for his 20th homer of the year. Maybe that is the start of a hot strech from Jazz who has been on the struggle bus.

  • Luke Weaver and David Bednar combined to pitch 2.1 perfect innings, with four strikeouts (two each) to close out the game.

    • Note on Weaver: Weaver now owns a 0.81 WHIP this season, which is the second best of all pitchers with 40.1 + innings pitched in all of baseball.

    • Note on Bednar: He has one of the most electric Closer entrances in Baseball
