ATLANTA — With the 39th pick of the 2025 MLB draft, The New York Yankees selected SS Dax Kilby out of Newnan HS.
Known for his smooth defensive actions and quick first step, Kilby has drawn comparisons to some of the game’s elite middle infielders. At the plate, he displays an advanced approach for his age, showing patience, gap-to-gap power, and a compact left-handed swing.

Kilby was a multi-sport athlete in high school, but baseball has always been his primary focus, and his commitment to the game has been evident in both his development and leadership. Scouts have praised his makeup, work ethic, and baseball IQ, believing that with professional development, Kilby has the potential to be a long-term asset at shortstop for the Yankees organization.
Kilby had committed to Clemson University prior to being selected by the Yankees.
