DALLAS, TX — Reactions to the New York Giants Week two 40-37 heartbreaking loss to the Cowboys, to fall to 0-2 on the season.

  • The Giants were able to score on the opening drive, scoring a field goal on a sixteen play drive. The story will be that LT James Hudson committed four costly penalties during the drive that costed the Giants more points. It marked the Giants first lead of the 2025 season.

  • The Giants defense got right to work, getting the Cowboys to go three and out on their opening drive, helped by a penalty on 4th and 1, causing the Cowboys to punt.

  • Ahead of their second drive, the Giants decided to bench James Hudson after his costly first drive. Marcus MBow replaced him.

  • The Giants settled for yet another field role, after Robinson dropped a pass on third down that could have made it 4th and 1. The Giants have moved the ball well through their first two drives, so some promise there.

  • Burns picked up his third sack of the young season, forcing the Cowboys to go third and out for the second time in as many drives and get the Giants offense back on the field.

  • The Giants would follow site with the third and out, with their first offensive drive that the Giants got nothing going on.

  • The Cowboys would get on the board with a field goal, to cut the Giants lead to three. Kavon Thibodeaux came up with a huge sack on third down to halt any momentum Dallas would have had.

  • The Giants would connect for their first touchdown of the season on a 29-yard pass from Russel Wilson to Malik Nabers, who made an awesome catch in the end zone to secure the score.

  • The Cowboys would return the favor on the very next drive. The Giants defense played this drive very sloppy, committing a number of penalties — including three on one play — that costed them the touchdown.

  • The Giants would go three and out on their next drive, after the Dallas offense blitzed Russell Wilson to change the momentum.

  • The Giants Defense was able to get this game to halftime without Dallas scoring on their last drive of the half. This was uber important because Dallas started the second half with the ball, and the Giants want to keep the lead, or the game close.

  • The Giants began the second half by picking off Dan Prescott start the second half.

  • The Giants are 0-4 in the Red Zone so far this season as The Giants went for it on 4th and 1 and Cam Scattebo could not hold on to the ball, giving Dallas possession back.

  • The Giants committed their 11th penalty of the game which directly caused another Dallas touchdown, this time to take the lead. For the defense, they looked good to start the game, but the silly penalties really costed the Giants, and they need to be cleaned up.

  • Russel Wilson made a nice pass to get to the Dallas 15 yard line, but with the Giants at 4th down and 5, and after yet another penalty, they settled for a field goal, cutting the Dallas lead to one.

  • The Cowboys would come back on the field and score a field goal. The Giants defense was once again plagued by penalties, leading to another Dallas score.

  • The Giants finally found some success from the Red Zone, putting Jackson Dart in for his NFL Debut, and his first play was a handoff to Cam Skattabo who ran it to the 1-yard line and scored the touchdown on the next play.

  • Once again, Dallas punched right back with a touchdown of their own. The Giants defense

  • And the Giants delivered the favor right back for a change. Brian Daboll made a gutsy decision on 4th and 5 to keep the offense on the field and it paid off. Russel Willson threw a DIME to Wan’Dale Robinson for a touchdown and the lead.

  • The Giants just could not get the job done. The surrendered a touchdown with 52 seconds left on the clock, the eventual game winner. The Giants Defense struggled in the second half and it showed. A lot to clean up.

  • The Giants scored a touchdown with 25 seconds left in the game with an insane catch from Nabers who pick up the pass from Wilson.

  • With just seconds left in the game, the Cowboys tied it with a field goal to send this game to overtime. This was a very thrilling game for both sides.

  • The Giants forced the Cowboys to punt in OT after winning the coin flip and differing.

  • The Giants also could not score on their first drive in OT. Wilson threw the ball backwards on second down and the Giants could not bail him out.

  • The Cowboys could not convert on their second attempt, and were forced to punt away.

  • The Giants got the ball back and on second down, Russel Wilson got picked off. A really bad time for the Giants first turnover of the season, as it ultimately costed the Giants the game.

  • Aubrey with a walk-off field goal, and the Giants lose in overtime.

According to Pro Football Reference, the Giants set a franchise record for penalty yards incurred in one game with 160. They had 15 total penalties today.
