HOUSTON, TX — Jazz Chisholm Jr. was removed from Thursday’s game due to an apparent injury.

The injury occurred making a really nice play at second base, catching Astros’ second basemen Jose Altuve trying to advance on a wild pitch.

Chisholm Jr. was noticeably uncomfortable in the dugout before his fourth inning at-bat where he struck out swinging, before coming out of the game.

The Yankees announced that Chisholm Jr. left the game with contusions in both knees that occurred on two different plays.

UPDATED POSTGAME:

Aaron Boone addressed Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s status in his postgame comments, noting that early indications suggest the outfielder avoided any major injury. Boone reassured reporters that, based on the initial evaluation, there was no reason to believe the setback was serious. However, he emphasized that the team will know more after further testing and medical review, and a clearer update is expected before tomorrow’s game. Boone’s cautious optimism offered some relief, but the Yankees will continue to monitor Chisholm closely before making any final determinations.

Chisholm Jr. also addressed the media shortly after and did not seem overly concerned. Chisholm said that he was checked in both knees if there was any structural damage, such as torn ligaments, and nothi g was found. Chisholm said that he has been icing it since he came out of the game in the fourth inning and “should” be ready to go against the Blue Jays tomorrow. Important to note that the team might want to give him the day off tomorrow regardless.

This will be updated as more information is provided.
