NEW YORK — Instant Reaction to the Yankees 10-5 win over the Washington Nationals, improving to 71-60 on the season.

  • The Yankees took an early 1-0 lead on some small ball. Rice and Judge worked back-to-back walks, and after a passed ball and a sac fly by Bellinger, gave the Yankees a lead. It was good to see the Yankees get a quick lead without recording a hit, much less a home run.

  • In the third inning, Ben Rice would hit a 425 foot missile into the bleachers in right-center field for his 21st home run of the season. Ben Rice has been an absolute monster this season and a cornerstone in the Yankees lineup.

  • The Yankees offense got to work in the fifth inning against Lord with back-to-back singles by Caballero and Grisham to get the inning off to a good start. After a Rice flyout advancing Caballero to third, but that did not matter as Judge hit a ground-rule double scoring the run from third. Bellinger followed with a two-run single, making it 5-0 Yankees and Jazz took that opportunity to send a ball to the second deck to give the Yankees a 7-0 lead.

  • Just want to mention this play in the bottom of the sixth inning. It may not reflect in the box score, but this is the second instance this week where we have seen the Yankees baserunners not freeze on a line drive and it results in a double play. This needs to be cleaned up before a situation like this comes up in the playoffs.

  • Cam Schlittler’s Final Line: 6.0 IP | 4 H | 0 R/ER | 3 BB | 8 K | 96-63 P/S | 2.76 ERA

    • The domancne of Cam Schlittler continues as he completed six scoreless innings and looked really good during those six innings. His fastball and curveball were really good today.

  • Jasson Dominguez hit his first home run since July 23rd against the Blue Jays in the seventh inning, sending a three-run shot to the short porch. Playing time for Dominguez has diminished over the past few weeks with the injury to Judge, so it is good to see Dominguez making the most out of his start. Every Yankee in the starting lineup recorded a hit.

  • Interesting little nugget, but Aaron Boone mentioned that Anthony Volpe would be involved in tonight’s game in some way, but the only way he was involved was by being a bench warmer. It could be because of the score, but something to watch.

  • Yerry De Los Santos had two outs and nobody on in the ninth before loading the bases and walking in a run. Mark Leiter Jr. came on and gave up a Grand Slam to make it 10-5 Yankees. He then struck out James Wood to end the game.
