MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Instant Reaction to the Yankees 10-9 win over the Twins to improve to 84-67 in the season.
The Yankees got the scoring started with three singles (Grisham, Judge, Bellinger) and a Sac Fly by Stanton, who just missed a three-run homer, gave the Yankees an early 2-0 lead.
The #Yankees have exceeded their hit and run total from yesterday in the first inning.

Cam Schlittler would begin his outing by getting two outs on two pitches before walking back-to-back batters and surrendering an RBI single to Lewis that barley got threw the infield, to cut the Yankees lead to 2-1.
The Yankees bats did not stop. McMahon flew out to begin the second inning, but it was really hard-hit. Volpe, fresh off a break, and Wells would hit back-to-back doubles, driving in a run, before Grisham would hit a two-run homer to add to the Yankees lead. Judge and Rice would then both single and after another deep flyout, Stanton would hit an RBI single. The Yankees left the top of the second with a 6-1 lead.
Wells follows up with an RBI double (I thought it was gone)

The Yankees loaded the bases with nobody out in the third inning on a single by McMahon, a walk from Volpe, and a single by Wells. Grisham and Judge would both hit sac flys and Rice would hit an RBI double to add three to the Yankees lead, making it 9-1.

Cam Schlittler worked another 1-2-3 inning
The Yankees would add their tenth run in the fourth inning on a single by Chisholm (giving every Yankee a hit), then a stolen base and an RBI single by Volpe. Volpe’s swing and plate discipline looked good today.

With his single in the fifth inning, Rice was 3-4 on the night, and his at-bats were all great. Rice’s approach at the plate is awesome, and he will be a cornerstone piece to the Yankees for years to come.
Cam Schlittler broke his string of eleven straight Twins retired with a soft single over McMahon’s head, followed by a Home Run by the nine hitter, James Outman, to cut the Yankees lead to 10-3. Schlittler would then give up a single to Buxton and a two-out walk to Larnach and after a failed pickoff attempt and a wild pitch, another run scored. He then walked Clemens ending his night.
Fernando Cruz came on and got a groundout to end the inning and avoid further trouble.
The Yankees offense would not score in the sixth inning, getting only a Chisholm single, erased by a double play by McMahon.
Ryan Yarbrough was the next out of the bullpen and he did not impress. He gave up a double, an RBI single and a two-run home run to begin his outing. Leiter would come on and a bunt single would move the runner over, that came in on a sac fly, bring the Twins closer to a 10-8 game. The Yankees bullpen is really bad.
The Yankees offense went down 1-2-3 in the seventh inning and has been silenced since the fifth inning. The inability to tack on runs kept the Twins in this game.
Mark Leiter Jr. worked a 1-2-3 inning for the Yankees in the seventh.
Judge led off the eighth with a walk, then advanced on a wild pitch. Then Judge was caught stealing third base with Bellinger at the plate and only one out, and that just can’t happen.
Devin Williams came in and pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning, and looked really dominant, striking out two, including the powerful Buxton.

The Yankees could not score in the ninth inning, despite having a runner on second and no outs.
David Bednar came on for the bottom of the ninth with a two-run lead, and allowed a home run to Larnach on a middle-middle fastball, not well located. Bednar was able to get the final two outs and secure the victory.
