NEW YORK — Instant Reaction to the Yankees big win over the Nats, improving to 73-60 on the season.

  • Trent Grisham lead off the game with a solo home run into the short porch to give the Yankees an emidiet lead. The Yankees would go on to load the bases with no outs, but strikeouts from Chisholm and Dominguez and a hard lineout by Volpe to leave the bases loaded.

  • The Yankees offense got to work in the third inning, putting up nine runs on Civalle and the Nats bullpen, in a 45-minute half inning. In the inning, Judge, Bellinger, McMahon and Rice all hit home runs, Dominguez had two separate RBI hits, and multiple Yankees had multiple hits, Rice, Judge and Dominguez.

  • In the nine-run third inning, Anthony Volpe made two of the three outs in the inning, one liner to second and a strikeout with the bases loaded to end the inning. The Yankees might need to give him more of an extended break.

  • Austin Wells has had better at-bats as of late and results came in the fourth inning, powing a solo home run to right.

  • Max Fried’s Final Line: 7.0 IP | 4 H | 1 R/ER | 6 K | 2 BB | 94-61 P/S | 3.06 ERA

    • Max Fried had another really good outing today, his second in a row, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning. Sometimes when it’s an offensive laugher the quality of pitching can get lost, but Fried’s outing was really dominant and encouraging for the future, with a few playoff teams on the horizon.

  • Anthony Volpe was 0-5 today and was the only Yankee to not reach base in the game. He is now in the midst of 1 for 37 slide, with 14 strikeouts in 11 games.
