NEW YORK — Instant Reactions to the Yankees taking the series against the Twins and improving to 64-56 on the season.

  • Carlos Rodon loaded the bases with no outs in the first, but was able to get out of it, only allowing one run on an RBI groundout, but he threw 35 pitches.

  • Judge gave him that run right back with a 425 home run to right center off Adams. That was Judge’s 38th home run of the season and his first extra-base hit since returning from the IL last week.

  • Rodon bounced back with a 1-2-3 second inning on 11 pitches.

  • The Yankees then came back and put runners on first and second and with one out, Volpe hit his 18th home run of the year and added some flair with a nice bat flip to give the Yankees a 4-1 lead.

  • The Yankees had an opportunity to break the game open in the third inning, loading the bases with one out but a strikeout of Goldschmidt and a groundout off the bat of McMahon leaving the bases loaded.

  • Giancarlo Stanton would extend the Yankees lead with a 447 ft. homer in the fifth inning. Stanton has hit the ball hard all night.

  • The Yankees had the opportunity to add more runs on in the fifth inning, but for the second time in three innings, the bases were left loaded.

  • Rodon’s Final Line: 7.0 IP | 1 H | 1 R/ER | 2 BB | 5 K | 0 HR | 96-61 P/S | 3.25 ERA

    • Rodon made it clear that the first innings was the anomaly in this outing, allowing just one hit the whole night — to the first batter he faced. Rodon really locked in to be able to give the Yankees bullpen some breathing room, allowing just one baserunner the rest of his outing.

  • The Yankees tacked on some insurance in the seventh inning when Goldschmidt led the inning off with back-to-back hits, putting runners on first and third with no outs. After Judge walked loading the bases with two outs, Bellinger would work an RBI walk and Stanton would rip a two-run single, really putting the fame away.

  • Tim Hill and Yerry De Los Santos each pitched a quick 1-2-3 eighth and ninth inning

  • Jazz would reach base four times in this game after his eighth inning triple. He would score on an Escarra groundout.

  • The Yankees heald the Twins to just one hit, that being the first batter of the game.
