CHICAGO, IL — Instant Reaction to the Yankees impressive 10-2 win over the White Sox, improving to 75-60 on the season, and reaching a season-high six-game winning streak.

  • The Yankees loaded the bases with three walks in the first inning against old friend Yondreas Gomez, but Ben Rice grounded a well-struck ball right to short that became a double play, but it did score a run. Giancarlo Stanton would line out sharply to end the inning, with only one run scored.

  • The Yankees had baserunners against Gomez every inning but the second, and it took till the fourth inning to finally break through. After a catcher’s interference and two walks, Trent Grisham came up with the bases loaded and two outs and deposited a Grand Slam into deep right field to extend the Yankees lead to 5-0. For Grisham, it was his 28th home run of the season — another new career high — and his second grand slam of the season. For the Yankees, it was their seventh grand slam of the season, one more than last season.

  • The Yankees batted around in the sixth inning against the White Sox bullpen, adding three runs from RBI singles by Volpe, Wells and Rice in the inning. It was good to see that the Yankees were able to put up a good inning without the long ball.

  • Carlos Rodon’s Final Line: 6.0 IP | 7 H | 1 R/ER | 2 BB | 5 K | 97-58 P/S | 3.18 ERA

    • Carlos Rodon pitched very well in his return to the South Side tonight, putting up six innings of one-run ball, and one can argue that the run should not have scored. Rodon’s command was really sharp, and he was really good at limiting the big inning tonight, including arguing his way to stay on the mound and striking out Elko to end his night.

  • Anthony Volpe has drawn the ire of Yankees fans in recent weeks, but he seems to be working out of his extended August slump. Volpe now has multiple hits in two games in a row, and he added to that with a two-run home run in the seventh.

  • Fernando Cruz was the first out of the bullpen and for the first time since late June, he worked in back-to-back games. Cruz worked around a leadoff single for a scoreless inning.

  • Tim Hill pitched the eighth inning and got a lot of soft contact — but they got through for hits. It resulted in one-run across for the White Sox, but it could have been worse.

  • Comilo Doval had the ninth inning and shut the door after a 25-pitch inning.
