After a few quiet offensive innings, the Yankees were able to plate two runs off Red Sox reliever and former Yankee Justin Willson. The story of those runs — speed kills. Caballero would get the inning started with a ground-rule double, then promptly stole third base. He would score on a fielders choice by McMahon, in which he would advance to second on a wild throw. McMahon would score after an intentional walk to Aaron Judge with two outs was followed by a Ben Rice RBI single.

Luis Gil’s Final Line: 6 IP | 0 R/ER | 0 H | 4 BB | 4 K | 93 P | 2.83 ERA
Luis Gill looked ok today, holding the Red Sox hitless through six innings, but he also walked four batters, had two wild pitches and a balk.
Fernando Cruz was the first out of the bullpen, and the only damage was a two-out solo home run by Nate Eaton, breaking up the no-hitter and a two-out walk. Cruz did record three strikeouts in the outing.
Luke Weaver was up warming in the sixth inning before Fernando Cruz, but was sat down and never came back up. Something to watch.
The Yankees had a threat to add on with first and second, no outs in the ninth but a double play by Judge and a groundout by Goldschmidt ended the threat.
David Bednar came in for the ninth inning and sent the Red Sox down in order, with two strikeouts.
