BOSTON, MA — Instant Reaction to the Yankees 5-3 win over the Red Sox, improving to 83-65 on the season.
The Yankees offense got started early with a Grisham hit by pitch, Rice ground-rule double and a Judge four-pitch walk. Cody Bellinger would hit a deep fly ball to center, caught by Rafaela for a sac fly. Jazz would then hit a little dribbler for an RBI single. The Yankees would go on to re-load the bases with one out, but both Caballero and Wells struck out looking to end the inning and strand the runners.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. recorded three hits and three RBI’s against Bello today, and his third hit was an absolute blast to right field at Fenway, putting the Yankees up 4-0 in the fifth inning. It marked Chisholm’s 29th home run of the season, putting him one shy of recording a 30/30 (30 HR/30SB) season.
Jazz is now 3-3 with 3 RBI's as he homers off Bello in the fifth inning. His 29th of the season!

The Red Sox got a run back on an Alex Bregman Fenway homer off the Pesky Pole in the fifth inning off Max Fried. It was 316 feet. Tough luck.
The Red Sox did not stop at one off Fried. An infield single by Nick Sogard opens the floodgates for three straight hits surrendered by Fried, including an RBI single by Wong, who he fought to face.
Luke Weaver came out with the go-ahead run at the plate and two runners on base to face Rafaela, who has had Weaver’s number, and struck both Rafaela and Gonzalez out to keep this a two-run game. More importantly, they were both right-handed hitters, and the Yankees claim Weaver is worse against.
Max Fried’s Final Line: 5.1 IP | 9 H | 2 R/ER | 2 BB | 6 K | 105 P | 3.03 ERA
Devin Williams was the next out of the Yankees bullpen, and worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning against the heart of the Red Sox lineup. These were also the same hitters he faced on Friday, so a good sign from Williams.
The Yankees had an opportunity to add some big insurance runs, with back-to-back hits, but Wells struck out for the fourth time in the game and McMahon grounded out to end the threat.
Fernando Cruz was the next out of the bullpen, and his struggles continued. He surrendered a one-out pinch-hit solo home run to Jaren Duran, to make this a one-run game. Cruz was able to come back and strike the next two batters out.
Cody Bellinger came up clutch for the Yankees. After a Judge single off Chapman and a wild pitch, Bellinger works a 10-pitch at-bat and doubles off the monster, giving the Yankees a HUGE insurance run.

David Bednar came in and locked down the Save with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth inning. It truly looked like Bednar did not even break a sweat.
The Yankees are also 19 game over .500 for the first time this season, and will go for the Sweep of the Red Sox on Sunday Night Baseball with Warren getting the start against Boston Ace Garrett Crochet.
