CHICAGO, IL — Instant Reaction to the Yankees 10-4 win over the White Sox, improving to 74-60 on the season.

  • The Yankees took a quick 2-0 lead on a Cody Bellinger two-run home run in the first inning.

  • Jazz Chisholm Jr. would add on with a solo shot of his own, also his 26th home run of the season, making it 3-0.

  • After Volpe reached on an E4 and Grisham walked with two-outs, Ben Rice singled home the fourth Yankees run of the game.

  • To start the second inning, Anthony Volpe committed an E6 and that put Warren in trouble instantly. After Warren loaded the bases and had two outs, Miguel Vargas would launch a Grand Slam deep into left field to tie the score at four. The Volpe error directly caused four White Sox runs, and it can’t continue to happen. The Yankees continuing to have Volpe in the lineup needs to stop.

More Here:

  • Ben Rice leads off the fifth inning with a single, and Aaron Judge puts the ball in play that leads to a run. The scorer ruled it a single and an E5, but it looks like Miguel Vargas is seriously hurt, so hoping for the best.

  • After a few interesting baserunning decisions by the Yankees, a Sac Fly by Chisholm gave the Yankees a 6-4 lead.

  • Will Warren’s Final Line: 5.0 IP | 5 H | 0 ER / 4 R | 2 BB | 3 K | 93-51 P/S | 4.30 ERA

    • Not Warren’s best day, but not his worst. None of the runs were earned due to the E6 to lead off the second inning, preceding the Grand Slam. Warren did not have his best command — though the strike zone did him no favors. Warren being able to lock in and get big outs and keeping the Yankees in the game after the grand slam shows some guts.

  • Fernando Cruz was the first out of the bullpen, and he pitched a 1-2-3 sixth inning, with a nasty strikeout and some really nice plays by Volpe in the field.

  • Luke Weaver then had the seventh inning, working a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts. Weaver continues to look impressive as the setup man for the Yankees.

  • The White Sox committed three errors. All three lead to Yankees runs. This time, it was Goldschmidt leading off the inning by getting on due to an E5. McMahon followed with a bombing double, putting runners on second and third, no outs. Volpe would put the ball in the air to center for a sac fly, scoring Goldschmidt and advancing McMahon to third, before Trent Grisham followed the sac fly up with a two-run home run, making it 9-4 NYY.

  • Devin Williams had the eighth inning and he struck out the side. He looked terrific this outing with both his pitches working. Having Devin Williams pitch the way he has for the past few weeks in that bullpen down the stretch really makes a game shorter because when Williams is pitching like this, it’s going to be tough to get to him.

  • Mark Leiter Jr. came on and finished up the game, retiring the side in order.

  • The Yankees bullpen did not allow a baserunner and Yankee pitching did not allow an earned run today. That is pretty impressive given the fact that the White Sox have been a top 10 offense in Baseball since the All-Star Break.
