In a major pre–53-man roster cut move, the New York Giants have officially released eight players as they pare down from the expanded preseason roster. The announcements were made on August 22, 2025 — just days before the NFL’s mandatory deadline to reach a maximum of 53 active roster spots.

CB O’Donnell Fortune

ILB Dyontae Johnson

C Jimmy Morrissey

OL Jaison Williams

These moves came following the Giants’ concluding preseason win — a 42–10 win over the Patriots — and represent the first wave of cuts from the team’s 90-man roster as they approach the 4 p.m. ET submission deadline on Tuesday, August 26
