BOSTON —Giancarlo Stanton will return to the Yankees’ lineup for the first time since Game 5 of the 2024 World Series — just in time. The Yankees have been in need of a right-handed bat since Opening Day, and there may be no better option than the power threat that Stanton, known as “Big G,” brings to the lineup.
Stanton is coming off a strong postseason performance, during which he slashed .273/.339/.709 with a 1.048 OPS and earned American League Championship Series (ALCS) Most Valuable Player honors.
Stanton also serves as a veteran presence and influential voice in the Yankees’ clubhouse, working alongside team captain Aaron Judge to help guide the team with the mindset necessary for success and a championship run in 2025.
Stanton had three hits and a walk, over his three rehab games with AAA Somerset, going 3–11 (.272) with two RBI’s.
Pablo Reyes was DFA’ed to make room on the active roster.
