Takeaways
The Offense/Defense
The Yankee was putrid today, only recording 3 hits, all singles, and getting shut out again. Their offense in this stretch has been a disaster and it feels like the “june swoon” will never end.
The Yankees defense was a disaster once again. The eighth inning was just a colossal melt down after back-to-back walks and Wells just forgetting how to play a bunt, that turned into a single and later three runs, one due to a Bellinger throwing error.
Starting Pitching Analysis
Clarke Schmidt was locked in to start the game today, but he gave up two home runs, a solo shot and a three-run blast
Bullpen Usage
Ian Hamilton worked around some 2-out traffic in the seventh inning, but did not allow a run. Allan Winans came out to pitch the eighth inning, and allowed back-to-back walks, then a defensive miscue from Wells to load the bases with no outs, that then lead to three A’s runs.
