Takeaways
The Offense/Defense:
The Yankees offense did enough today to warrant a win. While the Yankees hit two home runs (Wells and Judge [2 run]), the Yankees were also able to drive in runs on groundouts and sac flies, playing situational baseball. Putting the ball in play with runners in scoring position today was the difference in the game.
The Yankee defense had a up-and-down day. DJ LeMahieu should never play second base again. There were a few ground balls that were hit to second base that should have been ground ball outs, but were hits. Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Paul Goldschmidt all make great plays, saving runs.

Starting Pitching Analysis:
Max Fried threw a lot of pitches today, costing him outs on the backend, but he did enough to get the win and keep his team in the game. Most importantly, Fried allowed the Yankees to score first and get some runs on the board.
Bullpen Usage:
The Yankees bullpen has been riding the struggle bus as of late. Loaisiga was the first out of the pen and gave up 1 run, while getting a big double play to get out of a jam. Mark Leiter Jr. got into some trouble, but the Bellinger double play bailed him out of trouble. Tim Hill came in after a two-out walk by Leiter Jr. to get Nimmo and he did on one pitch. After another grounder to second got through, Goldschmidt converts another DP and hill gets the next batter for a clean eighth inning. Devin Williams came in and was great today (with some help from the Umpire) and shut the door to earn a subway series split.
