Takeaways

The Offense

The Yankees offense was ok today, with Jazz getting the offense started with a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Stanton would add another run in the top of the sixth. After the Yankees blew the lead, Cody Bellinger hits a solo homer in the seventh inning, bringing the Yankees one run closer.

Starting Pitching Analysis

Carlos Rodon was solid, giving the Yankees five plus innings of two-run ball. Rodon labord today, throwing a lot of pitches through his outing. He kept the Yankees in the game, so credit to him.

Bullpen Usage

Mark Leiter Jr. was the first out of the bullpen, with a runner on second and no outs and the Yankees completely collapsed. The Yankees gave up four runs, and the lead, not helped by their poor defense, specifically by Anthony Volpe. Jonathan Loáisiga was next out, while he gave up the big two-run single, he did look sharp today besides that, giving the Yankees an inning and two thirds. Tim Hill was the next out of the bullpen
