Takeaways

The Offense/Defense

The Yankees offense was silent through the first seven innings, being no-hit. Then Jazz Chisholm Jr. and Ben Rice lead off the eighth inning with back-to-back singles, putting runners on the corners with no outs. Austin Wells follows with a Sac Fly getting the Yankees on the board. Then, Aaron Boone put Giancarlo Stanton in to pinch-hit for Vivas and he belted a two-run home run.

The Yankees offense came to life and tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on an Austin Wells RBI single.

Aaron Judge hit a Walk-Off Sac Fly in the 10th inning to sweep the Mariners!

(Shout-out to Woo who is one of MLB’s most underrated ace pitchers. I hope you throw a perfect game in your next outing against the Astros.)

The Yankees defense was crisp again today, with Rice having some sparkling plays at first base.

Starting Pitching Analysis

Marcus Stroman did his job. Stroman gave the Yankees five innings of two-run ball. He was nibbling like normal and not getting calls, but he was able to give the Yankees a solid effort.

Bullpen Usage

Clayton Beeter was the first out of the Bullpen and threw a scoreless sixth inning, allowing just a two-out single. Beeter would return for the seventh inning and give up a two-out three-run home run to Polanco on an 0-2 pitch after walking two batters. Killer. JT Brubaker and Ian Hamilton both had scoreless innings.
