Takeaways

1. The Bats Woke Up a bit:The Yankees scored more runs today than they have for the past week. Getting the early runs were a big help. The Yankees were also able to tack on three runs late off the Angles bullpen (RBI single from Belli, RBI groundout from Volpe, Sac Fly by Wells). The Yankees scored more runs today then they had all week before this.

2. Starting Pitching AnalysisRodón did not have his A+ stuff, putting the Yankees in an immediate hole, surrendering a two-out homer to Trout in the first. He would surrender two more solo homers over the course of the outing, but left with a quality start and in line for the win.

3. Bullpen UsageThe Bullpen got nine big outs and looked sharp while doing it. Leter Jr. thew a 1–2–3 seventh inning, Loaisiga threw a clean eighth inning (two-out single by Trout), and Williams strikes out three, around a 2-out HBP to nail down the W.

4. Defensive PlaysThe Yankees turned a few good plays in the top of the eighth inning, one by Jazz and the scoop on the other end by Goldschmidt, as well as the 1–4–3 groundout right after that play.
