THE BRONX, NY — The Yankees took two out of the three game at Yankee Stadium from the Blue Jays this weekend, but nothing can be safe from controversy.

In a battle of the aces on Sunday, a combined seven runs would be scored in the first three innings, and a combined zero runs would be scored after that, but that is not the story, according to the Blue Jays.

When talking about the game, Toronto manager John Schneider brought up the Ben Rice ten pitch at-bat in the first inning against future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer, that cultivated in a three-run home run.

“They were relaying (pitches).. they’re good at it.” Schneider told the media after the game. “Major League Baseball knows the Yankees are good when they have something. Maybe I’m the only one that’s going to say it publicly, but we have to do a better job of making sure we’re not giving anything away.”

Cody Bellinger confirmed to the media that the Yankees did in fact pick up a tell on Scherzer in the first inning. It was obvious by Judge waving his arm when Scherzer was about to throw a changeup to Rice, resulting in the aforementioned three-run home run.

This is not the first time this season the Yankees have been caught relaying pitches to their teammates when on base. We all remember the Yankees getting all-star closer Andres Munoz’s tell to complete a dramatic comeback from down five to nothing in the eighth inning, before winning six to five in ten innings.

“that’s part of the game.. that’s part of the game, that’s part of the game. It’s 2025, everybody knows it. We live it.. that’s just part of the game.” Scherzer said in his postgame media avalibility.

“Bellinger was kind of flapping his hands around, relaying it (pitch) to Judge..” Blue Jays’ first baseman Ty France told the media. “Guys at first don’t typically flap their arms like that.. it’s just part of the game.”

It good to see that the players are admitting that it’s part of the game, because every team does it, the Yankees are just outrageously obvious with their relay from second base.

This win for the Yankees was a very pivotal one, putting the Yankees just two games back of the Blue Jays for first place in the American League East with nineteen games left to play. The Yankees schedule is also more favorable with no head-to-head matchups between the teams left this season.

The Yankees also took both series against the Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium and were four and two in the six games they played in the Bronx. That does not discount their horrific road performance against Toronto going one and six in the seven games in Toronto.

Also, for what it’s worth, the Yankees are good at other things besides relying signs when the pitcher is obviously tipping their pitches, like leading Baseball in Home Runs, and leading Baseball in starters ERA since August first.
